Twenty20.…. Its all about money honey…

Its 4 balls and six runs are required. Misbah-ul-Haq is on strike. He is playing excellent. A superb knock by him. Now its just six more runs. Joginder Shama coming…….And Misbah-ul-Haq played a cheeky shot …oh no…Someone is coming under it…oh yes srisanth caught it… and yes India won the first ever Tewnty20 World Cup. Hurrah!!!!

But hang on a second. This is the same team, which could not go beyond first round of one-day international World cup. This team is even less its best batsmen. What happened so suddenly? And who is playing against finals... Its old rival Pakistan. But that team also could not go beyond first round in One-day International World Cup. What is going on here?

Six sixes in an over by an Indian, Austrailia being beaten by Zimbabwe, India beating Pakistan through penalty shoot outs in league matches, India beating Austrailia in semis, India versus Pakistan world cup final, India have a nerve holding victory against Pakistan in World Cup finals… doesn’t it sound too interesting…. Just too artificial.

Zimbabwe wants a boundary at last delivery. Fine lag is up suddenly Austrailian bowler bowls at leg side and with just a flick of rist by batsman ball goes to fine lag and Zimbabwe wins. Ponting gets unfit. Afridi plays a wild shot first ball and gets out silently in one of the most crucial match of his life. Pakistani bowlers are not able to hit wickets with the ball at all. (while the first step of training to a bowler is to practice for hitting the single stump) . Twenty20 is all about hard hitting so there must be more “catch outs” but we are getting more “bold outs” as if batsmen are closing their eyes before hitting the ball. Imran Nazir gets run out while running for a definite single. Excuse is that he was injured and empire did not allowed the runner for him. Since when empires started taking these decision?? This decision used to be taken by the opposite team captain. But here the rule is slightly changed. Misbah slamming all the top class bowler here and there but could not hold is nerve against a minnow. He played the final shot high in the air using the pace of a pace bowler who does not generate any pace…. Haah give me a break.

So it was all fixed. But what can be the reason??? Of course for such bad thing the culprit is money always. But this time it has even interesting purpose. Go 24 years back and remember what happened when Kapil Dev brought that world cup to India? Cricket got famous in India that is the biggest market. Once the cricket was famous in India then only more and more money came into it. Now twenty-20 is a very new concept. It is not that popular like one-day or test cricket, so it was required to make it popular. After the match fixing scandal cricket and cricketers both were loosing there popularity and skill wise also Indian cricket team is on downfall. Sachin is getting old and there is no great batsman to follow and in bowling we are still looking for regular players. So all in all revitalization of cricket was required so that the money associated with it does not go. Twenty-20 is just perfect in this regard. 3hours matches, hard hitting, total enjoyment. The only thing that was missing was the attention of the world largest cricketing crazy country….so here we go…India versus Pakistan world cup final in which India beat Pakistan and gets a thrilling victory. Now that catches attention, that makes it popular in India, that brings the money back to the game and that promises more money then ever in cricket…..Thinkl about it.....Chak De India????????
